Introducing Colorado Springs Chiropractor Dr. Mark K. Rocco
The only thing worse than being blind is having sight, but no vision. - Helen Keller.
My journey to a career in chiropractic began at an early age growing up on the island of Maui in Hawaii. Surrounded by people with the "aloha spirit" and by some of the most beautiful beaches, rain forests, and other locations in the world, I was predestined to enter a career field where helping others was the goal.
I began implementing my vision as a personal trainer. Although I was thrilled at my ability to change lives in this position, it wasn't enough. So, I became a licensed massage therapist and physical therapy assistant. I was able to touch even more lives through these outlets, but I still wasn't satisfied -- I knew there was more I could be doing to help people reach optimal health and wellness.
After some not-so-gentle prodding by my own chiropractor who knew I had not yet reached my full potential, I enrolled in chiropractic school. I am so happy that I did - now every day I wake up knowing that I will make a difference in the world and that I'm finally where I am meant to be!
I earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree in the San Francisco Bay Area at Life Chiropractic College West (Life West). I selected this school because I sensed that the faculty and staff there were focused, as I am, in treating people with techniques that benefit them most.
What surprised me most about my education was the amount of information we were expected to master in approximately 3 1/2 years. Essentially, it was the same as a regular medical student with an added dose of classes on the nervous system, nutrition chiropractic techniques, etc.
I was especially fond of working in the health center when I was able. Although the paperwork was unbearable at times, I enjoyed immensely the ability to connect with patients and assist them in achieve optimal health. Each of my patients were like family to me and I felt so blessed to get to know them. I look forward to this same experience at Metro Health Services!
At Metro Health Services, we believe that ever person has the right to a healthy body. We treat our patients with the same care that we extend to our own families. We are mindful that each patient has different needs and so we custom-tailor our services to meet those needs rather than trying to put each body who walks into our office into a "one technique fits all" model.
Our patients are the best measure of our success - many of them have been coming back to us for years, despite being free of pain and health complaints, because they understand that we excel in educating and treating them so that remain healthy long after we have helped them obtain relief from their symptoms.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife MeLissa (a native of Colorado) and my son Nicholas. They both help to keep me feeling young and truly blessed. I never could have imagined that I would have the perfect career and a wonderful loving family to boot!
When I'm able, I enjoy running, traveling and, in general, just spending time outside with my family. We are often found out and about during the pleasant weekends either visiting one of the many wonderful parks in Colorado Springs, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo or the Garden of the Gods.
In general, we try to live by the principals we teach in the clinic. I personally am adjusted once per week to ensure I am in tip top neurological condition so that I can provide the highest quality care for our patients. I also care for MeLissa and Nicholas and ensure that they are aligned and healthy.
My wife and I exercise four days a week at either the YMCA or in our home with Nicholas looking on. We cook our own meals from scratch most nights (I'm fortunate to have married a woman who can cook most anything) and sometimes bake for fun on the weekends. When we do go out to eat, we enjoy visiting restaurants that locally grown or organic meats and produce.
Now that you know more about me, I encourage you to take the next step to meet me in person and let me treat you. Please call our office today so that I may discuss your individual treatment needs with you!
